Graveside services for Edward Clayton May, 99, of Whitney, Texas will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Pleasant Point Cemetery near Lillian, Texas. Bro. Christopher Leake will officiate.
The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the service at Rosser Funeral Home.
Mr. May passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Whitney. He was born in Glen Cove, Texas on July 10, 1918 to Nota Mae (Barmore) and Alfred C. May.
Mr. May served in the Pacific during WWII and the Corp of Engineers at Australia, Papua New Guinea, Leyte Gulf and the Solomon Islands. After returning from the war, he moved to Fort Worth to work at the defense plants.
After leaving the defense plants, he worked many different odd jobs before settling at a local cabinet shop. He was known for his wood working skills and mechanical abilities.
He met Theda Ruth Mulder while staying at the motor court behind her parent’s service station. He and Ruth were married in 1951 in Fort Worth. As newlyweds, they moved to Arlington, Texas and lived there until Ruth retired in 1983. They then moved to Purdon, Texas near Navarro Mills Lake where they enjoyed fishing and many friends at the lake. They moved to Alvarado, Texas in 1998 where they lived until moving into a nursing home in Whitney in 2013.
Mr. May was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth; and four sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Ronny May and wife, Charlene and Dennis May and wife, Sheri; daughter, Patti Stone and husband, Darrell; grandchildren, Veronica Chas May and Eric Edwards, Christopher James Leake, and Dylan Glen May; and many other relatives and friends.
