Obituary for Mary Ellen McConathy (Vinson)

Funeral services for Mary Ellen McConathy, 76, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Crosby officiating. A private burial will be held at George’s Creek Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jay McConathy, Melvin Coe, Zach Coe, Chad Gray, Mark Gray, Jacob McConathy and Tom Dunwoody.
Mary McConathy passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 in Cleburne after suffering from pulmonary issues, finally succumbing to cancer.
She was born in Johnson County on March 3, 1941, the daughter of Zelma (Orr) and Fred Vinson.
Mary graduated from Cleburne High School, marrying Gene McConathy on July 29, 1960.
She retired from the credit department of GMAC and was a member of First Baptist Church Cleburne.
Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved the Lord, her husband, children and grandchildren. Mary loved people and always greeted everyone with a smile. She was a woman of strength and courage who rarely complained. Mary enjoyed reading, coloring, watching TV and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene in 2009; brother, Freddy Vinson; and sister-in-law, Romelda Vinson.
Mary is survived by her son, Jay McConathy and wife, Janet, of Cleburne; daughters, Kim Coe and husband, Melvin, of Sweetwater, Texas and Brenda McConathy and fiancé, Tom Dunwoody, of Arlington, Texas; sister, Jane Hudson and husband, Wayne, of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Chad, Koli, Kati, Mark, Zach, Jacy and Jacob; great grandchildren, Gunner, Carver and Beckon; and numerous other family and friends.
