Services for Donald Ray Mears, 73, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Brazos Point Cemetery. The Rev. Phil Vaughn and Jacky Mears will officiate. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at Rosser Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Anderson, David Brunson, Mike Osborn, Tommy Phillips, Donald Williams, and Bobby Worlow.
Donald passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 in Cleburne, Texas. He was born April 8, 1938 in Brazos Point Community to Andrew Jackson and Alice McCollaum Mears. Donald married Betty Lou Harris, the love of his life, on April 4, 1958 in Cleburne, Texas. He was the owner and manufacturer of Delco Fiberglass Boat Company. Donald started his company in Fort Worth and later moved the operation to Joshua. He produced the DelMagic and Infinity line of boats. He was a longtime member and Deacon at Brazos Point Church.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Olene Moon.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Mears of Cleburne; son, Jacky Mears and wife Shelley of Rio Vista; daughters, Debbie Payne and husband Dennis of Rio Vista, Teresa Mercer of Cleburne; grandchildren, Derrick Payne, Jade Cason and husband Rick, Jaylynn Cauthen and husband Lance, Jena Mercer, Chelce Montgomery and husband Kole, and Andi Mears; great-grandchildren, Emma Bree and Avarie Cauthen, Talynn Mercer, and three more blessings arriving this summer; brother, Albert Mears and wife Linda of Parker; sister, Pearl Dixon and husband Truman of Cleburne; and several nieces, nephews a host of friends, and loved ones.
