Evelyn was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 8, 1929, to Frankie Mae (Redell) and Leroy Ackermann. She was soon nicknamed Eva.
Eva married Bill Ray Walker on November 25, 1948 and they had 3 children: Bill Omar “Bow”, Diana Elaine and Lee Ellen. They shared a love a nature, taking their children camping, birding and stargazing. She shared this love with others in the children’s book “Mr. More-In”. Bill passed away in 1967.
