Monroe Knight

Monroe Knight passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, in Cleburne, TX.  Born in 1934 to Richard Enoch Knight and Eva Noland Knight, Monroe had an amazing life.  

In the early 1950’s, he served in the United States Army as an electronics and marksman expert at Thule Air Base in Greenland, now the United States Space Base, our northernmost installation.

Thereafter, he returned to Texas and finished his engineering education at Texas Chrisitan University and UTA.  He then began working in the oilfield services business and gained prominence as a pioneer in MWD drilling technologies.

Monroe’s expertise, while working at Gearhart-Owen, took him far and wide, including endeavors in California and Iran.  

He possessed a love of reading, science, mathematics, and history, tempered by the grace and humility that were hallmarks of his personality.

Above all, Monroe was a loving family man, devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He shared with them his love of the outdoors, travel, and simple togetherness.  

Monroe was a member of the Joshua Baptist Church and numerous professional organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilton Knight; sister, Pat Laursen, and grandchild, Erik Blumenfeld.

Monroe leaves behind his beloved wife, Jennie Dodson Knight; daughters, Keali Bartkowiak and husband, Len and Anna Fogelman and husband, Evan; grandchildren, Cole Blumenfeld and wife Shara; Rylie and Eden Bartkowiak; great grandchildren, Claire and Jacob Blumenfeld; and many other extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Rosser Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 in the Greenacres Memorial Park Mausoleum.
