Obituary for Virginia Gale Morgan (Powell)

Funeral services for Virginia Powell Morgan, 94, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted 2016 at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne, by Reverend Kenny Rigoulot.
Mrs. Morgan passed away on February 10, 2016 in Cleburne, Texas. Virginia was born on December 4, 1921 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Emma (Knight) and William Bryant Powell. Virginia married J.P. Morgan on November 5, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. They had one daughter, Harriet Morgan Boles.
“Meme” as she was affectionately known, made her home in Cleburne, Texas in 1989. Prior to moving to Cleburne, she resided in Arlington, Texas where she was a homemaker for over 30 years. In 1979 she and her husband retired in Grand Saline, Texas.
Meme was a talented seamstress, cook, gardener, card player, movie lover, and enjoyed nothing more than a frozen margarita. Meme was the woman that everyone admired, as she always lived in the moment and relished every second of life. Everyone said that they wished they could be “Meme” when they grew up. She was the grandmother that allowed her grandchildren to roller-skate in the house and bring mud pies in the kitchen, as she believed life was too short to worry about a messy house! Meme loved animals of all kinds and was an avid bird watcher.
Virginia was very active in her community. She was a 25 year member of the Victory Circle of Kings Daughters, and a 50 year member of the Oklahoma order of Eastern Star. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cleburne.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Morgan, in February 1987; and daughter, Harriet Morgan Boles in April 2011.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Heather Boles Bickell, and husband, Jeremy; and great- granddaughter, Caroline Grace, all of Cleburne.
Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Humane Society or Heart to Heart Hospice of Fort Worth.
