Graveside services for Naomi Christine Lawson, age 99 years, 7 months, 22 days, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Rosehill Cemetery with Randy Mayfield officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Blake Lawson, Joseph Hindash, Bobby Brashier, Clifford Clemons, Joseph Wheeland, and Gavin St. Clair.
Naomi joined her Savior on October 12, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born February 19, 1924 to Aleene (Fields) and James Nelson Thompson.
On October 8, 1947, Naomi married WWII veteran Baxter L. Lawson, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Naomi graduated from Meridian Mississippi Junior College and worked for the Navy Department in Washington DC from 1943-1944. She moved to Cleburne in 1944 and worked at Davis Studio as an art re-toucher; as office manager for Howell's Department Store; and at Montgomery Wards as credit manager. Naomi was influential in Cleburne as she started Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was Camp Fire Leader to many young girls. In 1979, she started working at the Glen Rose nuclear plant as an electrical drafter for 10 years until her retirement.
Also preceding her in death were her father, James Thompson and mother, Aleene Hollbrook and husband, Harry.
Naomi is survived by her son, Baxter Lawson and wife, Toi; grandson, Blake Lawson and wife, Jess; step-granddaughters, Sarah Clemons and husband, Clifford, and Lori Brashier and husband, Bobby; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Immediately following the graveside service, family and friends will gather at West End Grill to celebrate Naomi and her extraordinary life.
