Military graveside services for John Robert O’Dell, 76, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Mizell officiating.
A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Mr. O’Dell passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Cleburne. He was born in Jamestown, New York on January 3, 1943, the son of Blanche (Lebaron) and Fred O’Dell.
Mr. O’Dell served in the United States Navy from 1960-1966 and in the Arkansas Army National Guard, Battery B, 2nd/142nd FA in Siloam Springs, Arkansas from 1986 - 2003.
He was employed with Allen Canning Company in Siloam Springs; Silver Dollar Theme Park and Baldknobber Theater, both in Branson, Missouri; and Johnson County Law Enforcement in Cleburne as kitchen manager for five years and corrections officer for eight years before retiring in May of 2016.
Mr. O’Dell was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Fred “Bud” O’Dell and Jim O’Dell.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Sue Fields Periman Johnson O’Dell of Cleburne; son, John Robert Odell II and wife, Tammy, of Magnolia, Texas; daughter, Treasia Jane Odell Wilbourn of Van Buren, Arkansas; and son, Michael B. Johnson and wife, Dawn, of Grandview, Texas; grandson, Dillon Robert Wilbourn and wife, Sarah and baby on the way; granddaughter, Abby Lee Ann Wilbourn; sisters, Jean VanGuilder of Youngsville, Pennsylvania and Donna Davis Dominick and husband, Don, of Lakewood, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
