Obituary for
Benjamin Salgado Ortega
A memorial service celebrating the life of Ben Ortega, 71, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at Crossroads Church, 111 N. Pendell St in Cleburne.
Pastor Jerry Cox will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Darling, Nick Chadwick, Matt Lewis, Joe Bailey, Shane Nelson and Kirk Kirkpatrick.
Ben fought the good fight and received his reward of being relieved of duty August 30, 2015.
He was born in Big Springs, Texas on June 6, 1944, the son of Gloria (Salgado) and Benito Ortega.
Ben served his country in the United States Marines and then returned home to take up service for his Lord.
He married Brenda Harris on May 28, 1983 in Cleburne.
Ben was a member of Crossroads Church of Cleburne where he helped set up the H2H Ministry, serving as lead cook for many years. He also sang with the praise band before his health declined.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Salgado; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Harris Ortega; sons, Chris Ortega and wife, Tasha and Todd Perry and wife, Leslie; daughter, Heather Wilbanks and husband, Justin Nelson; grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Crystal Ortega, CJ Ortega, Jonathon Nelson, Dakota Wilbanks, Harrison Perry and Bryce Wilbanks; great grandchildren, Natalia and Ayana ; and a host of other family, friends and church family.
