Obituary for Karen Lynn Owen (St. Clair)

Funeral services for Karen Lynn Owen, 69, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Isaac Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Keene Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Owen, Mark Owen Ray Shackleford, Dan St. Clair, Lloyd Clapp and Steve Couch.
Karen Owen passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 16, 1948, the daughter of Mary (Parker) and Dale St. Clair.
Karen grew up in Coffeyville Kansas. She graduated from Enterprise Academy in Kansas in 1966. At Union College in Lincoln Nebraska she met her husband Elwyn Owen. They were married on June 8, 1969 in Coffeyville, Kansas. Together they raised four children. They spent five years as missionaries in Honduras where she ran the cafeteria for a 160 student school, and 10 years as missionaries in Brazil where she was Director of Music Conservatory for a K-12 school and then Director of a 500 student English Language School for six years.
Karen was an avid musician, playing piano from a young age. She played for the Cradle Roll Sabbath School for 19 years. She was passionate about introducing babies to Jesus. She also enjoyed helping her grandsons practice their piano skills. Another passion of Karen’s was quilting. She enjoyed giving quilts as gifts and made many to keep, particularly Texas themed quilts. Next to her love for Jesus, Karen loved her family and took joy in making home feel like home, wherever in the world home was! Her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family were extremely important to Karen. She made birthday meals for each member who lived locally. Her grandchildren were her special joy. She loved reading and singing to them, taking them to the library, art museum and zoo. Loved for her sweet smile and caring heart she will be greatly missed.
She was a member of the Joshua Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Mindy Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Elwyn Owen of Cleburne; sons, Mark Owen and husband, Ray Shackleford of West Virginia and Tim Owen and wife, Staci, of Cleburne, Texas; daughter, Teresa Owen of Keene, Texas; brothers, Terry St. Clair and wife, Cheryl, of Cleburne and Dan St. Clair and wife, Janna, of Loma Linda, California; sister, Nanette Clapp and husband, Lloyd, of Decatur, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Ryler Couch, Caleb Couch, Sydney Owen, Evelyn Owen and Ian Owen.
