Obituary for L. George Philp

L. George Philp
A memorial service celebrating the life of L. George Philp, 82, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. The Rev. Robert Herzig will officiate.
There is no visitation.
Interment will be at the DFW National Cemetery.
Mr. Philp passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at his home. He was born in Walled Lake, Michigan on November 21, 1928, the son of Parthena (Dickerson) and Leland Maxwell Philp.
George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Ruth Berry on August 1, 1980 in Houston, Texas. George was retired from Pennzoil, where he was employed as budget director.
George was an active member of his church and also the Christian Business Club, Lions Club, Athletic Booster Club, American Legion and he delivered Meals on Wheels.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
George Philp is survived by his wife, Ruth Y. Philp of Cleburne; sons, Terry Philp of Tyrone, GA, Larry Philp of Tenaha, TX, and Chris Berry and wife, Renee, of Windsor, MO; daughters, Jill Pinion and husband, Mike, of Old Town, FL, Michelle Theall and husband, Mike, of Katy, TX, and Alison Hitchcock of Cleburne.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
