Obituary for Gaila Mae Pool (Burrous)

Funeral services for Gaila Mae Pool, 86, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at Rosser Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
Gaila went to be with her Lord on February 15, 2018. Gaila was born on January 30, 1932 in Lindsey, OK to Mattie and Jim Burrous. She was raised in Grady, NM and attended Eastern New Mexico University where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Darrell (K.D.) Pool. Gaila and K.D. married in 1950 and had two sons, Ken Jr. and Vince.
The young family moved from Clovis, NM to Wheatridge, CO and then to Irving, TX, where they continued nurturing their small business into a thriving concern, became grandparents, and entertained family and friends for decades. In 1996, Gaila and K.D. moved to Pool’s Country Place, a sprawling estate in Cleburne, Texas with miniature horses, cattle, and critters of all kinds.
Gaila was a devoted member of Field Street Baptist Church, renowned cook, and fearsome bridge player. Whether you called her Mrs. Pool, Gaila, Gran, or Geela, we will miss her sparkling blue eyes, full of mischief, empathy, and wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her two sons, and her husband.
She is survived by grandchildren, Melissa Smith and husband Greg of Dallas, Nicholas Pool of Dallas, and Brendan Heiber; great-grandchildren Kelsey Roberts and Kuiper Smith; great-niece Tawnee Bicknell and husband Shawn of Cleburne and their children Audree and Boston; and other loving family and friends too numerous to list.
Gaila STRONGLY preferred donations in lieu of flowers to her beloved Sunday School class at Field Street Baptist Church.
