Phyllis Rae Elliott Robinson, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2021. She was born on February 8, 1941 to Raymond and Helen Elliott in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Phyllis briefly lived in St. Joseph and Kingsville, Texas but grew up in her beloved Lubbock where she attended Lubbock High School. While in high school, Phyllis was involved in theater, choir, and served as a class officer. She loved being a cheerleader for the Westerners the most.

Following high school, Phyllis attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Tech Singers. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education graduating in three years.

Phyllis immediately started working as a public school music teacher and choir director in Gruver. She also taught elementary music in Wylie.

In 1979, Phyllis decided to make a career change and become a florist. On July 4th, she married Gary Wayne Robinson where together they successfully operated Friou Floral in Cleburne for over fifteen years.

But education called Phyllis back home. She returned to school, teaching music in Godley. Her ten years in Godley were her fondest memories and she remained friends with teachers and families long after her retirement.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Robinson; her parents, Raymond and Helen Elliott; and sister, Roberta Lindly. She leaves behind her loving children, son, Steven Metze and wife, Tiffany of Austin; daughter, Sharla Davenport and husband, Tripp of Celina; cousin, Jim Elliott and wife, Diane of Dallas; niece Michelle Lindly of Kingwood; and grandchildren, Reagan, Addie, and Libby Davenport and Alwynne Metze.

Phyllis was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over thirty-two years.
