Ruth Yvonne Clark Berry Philp, age 85, of Cleburne, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2024. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 20, 1939 to Wm. Samuel Clark and Dorothy K. Rainwater Clark Huston. Ruth married Alvin L. Berry, Jr., father of her children, in March 1958. Mr. Berry passed away in 1977. Ruth married Leland George Philp in August 1980 and was married until his passing in 2011.
Ruth accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. She was a Camp Fire Leader, Den Mother, PTA President, Sunday School Teacher, Soloist for the Christian Science Church, and church choir member for many years. She worked as a Police Dispatcher, Police Officer, and Church Secretary. She was a member of King's Daughters and the Johnson County Republican Women's Club. Her family, children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren were her pride and joy! She loved all of God's animals and took in and cared for countless animals over the years and gave richly to animal charities. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Alvin L. Berry, Jr. and Leland G. Philp, sister, Joann Keele, daughter, Michelle Theall and stepdaughter, Jill Pinion
She is survived by her son, Chris Berry, Sr. of Lexington, Missouri; daughter, Alison Farquhar of Cleburne, Texas, Terry Philp of Tyrone, Georgia and Larry Philp of Tenaha, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Berry, Jr., Jessica Berry, Michael Theall, Nicole Scoggins, Matthew Theall, Tiffany Theall, Alyssa Jones, Alexis Kelleher, Clay Hitchcock, and Taylor Philp; many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne with The Reverend Kim Long officiating. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery, Arlington, Texas with her beloved husband, George.
