Obituary for Ossie Ellery Sayers

Ossie Ellery “Pete” Sayers, 93, of Cleburne, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Parkdale Cemetery, 701 S Mary St, Arlington, TX 76010.
Pete was born on January 26, 1924, on the family farm in Summerfield, Louisiana. He married Martha Sue Morehead on October 24, 1942. She preceded him in death on May 18, 1997 after 54 years of marriage.
In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. After, he and Martha Sue moved to Texas, where he was employed by L.T.V., formerly Chance Vought Aircraft. He retired from L.T.V. in August of 1982.
Pete, lovingly known as Opa, was an avid game player. He instilled the love of Rummy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished deeply.
One of his greatest memories was a trip he took in May 2004 with his daughter and son-in-law to attend the WWII Memorial dedication in Washington D.C. Pete was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 157 and American Legion Post 624.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Belinda Moore and husband, Ron, of Cleburne; son, Wayne Sayers and wife, YeSun, of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Scott and Brandi England and husband, Jeff, all of Grandview, Texas and Robby Moore and wife, Shay, of Norman, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Katie Scott, Joley Scott, Macy Moore, Samuel Scott, Molly Moore, Mack Moore, Alesha Jones and husband, Jason and Lynn Evetts and husband, Nathan; great-great grandchildren, Ryan, Jace, Denli and Madi; and brother, Joe Ruel Sayers of Ringgold, Louisiana.
