Scott John Stockwell, 63, of Keene, TX passed away in his home on Feb. 1, 2023. Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Scott was born on Oct. 3, 1959 to Elaine (Tobey) and John Joseph Stockwell in Long Island, New York. When he was only 15 years old his father tragically passed away, leaving Scott and his three younger siblings without a father and his mother to raise them on her own. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and honorably served his country for six years; part of his time was spent serving in Korea. While enlisted he thoroughly enjoyed his time working with the advanced jet aircraft in the Strategic Air Command.
During his time in Korea he met a group of student missionaries from what is now Southern Adventist University. These young people had a considerable influence on Scott's conversion to Adventism and his future course in life. Upon returning from the Air Force he pursued theology and later electronics. Scott aspired to earn a doctorate in theology. However, a service-connected back injury and struggles with disabilities throughout his life impaired his potential to achieve his dreams. In spite of this he continued to collect and study his theology books and his faith and desire to learn remained strong.
The highlight of his life came one day in 1990 when he met Fe Dizon. They were swept off their feet and soon married on July 25, 1991. Fe remembers Scott's letters-- full of prayers and bible verses. She was greatly encouraged by these.
Scott will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband, a highly intelligent man who preferred to be comfortable at home, and a devout SDA Christian. Scott's family and friends will remember sharing thoughtful conversations, debating theology with him, learning about mechanics and working on computers together. Scott enjoyed building computers, working on cars and collecting books, especially theology books. He loved his cats, Peanut and Tux. Most of all, Scott loved his wife of almost 32 years, Fe, who lovingly cared for him as he fought to get well and walk again. Scott will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts until that wonderful day when we are reunited once again.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elaine Stockwell; sister, Lynn Stockwell; and brother Dean Stockwell.
He is survived by his wife, Fe Stockwell of Keene; and brother, Robert Stockwell of New Hampshire.
