Obituary for George A. "PaPa" Soliz

Funeral services for George Arguello Soliz of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek George, Chris Soliz, Kent George, James Bauman, Tim Farley and Josh Townsley. Honorary pallbearer is Kason George.
George Arguello Soliz passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Mexico on May 25, 1918, and was approaching his 97th birthday.
He spent his youth in the Hill Country farming and ranching.
George married Frances Avila in 1941 and looked to the big city for employment. Detroit, Mich. steel mills did not suit him; so he came back to Texas and gained employment with the Santa Fe Railway Company where he remained employed for greater than 32 years, retiring in 1980.
George was of the Methodist faith and his family helped start the church in Moody, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecillo and Florentina Soliz; wife, Frances Avila Soliz; seven brothers and two sisters.
He lived in the Rio Vista community for more than 64 years raising his children. George is survived by his children: daughters, Virginia Soliz of Dallas, Carolyn George of Cleburne, Texas and Dr. Linda Soliz, also of Dallas; sons, Frank Soliz of Clairmore Okla., George B. Soliz and wife, Angela, of Alvarado, Texas and Stephen Soliz of Dallas; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
