Bernice G. Spady
Bernice G. Spady, 95, of Cleburne, Texas died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Spady was born in Rheinlander County, Wisconsin on September 13, 1916, a daughter of George Gemmel and Ottilie Moshander Gemmel.
She attended grade school and went on to graduate from Barron High School in 1939 in Barron, Wisconsin. She later moved to Florida and on April 9, 1940, married Walter L. Spady at the Bok Tower. From there, they moved to Washington, D.C., where she became the night administrator at the Maryland Dry Dock Company. In 1948, they moved to Rhode Island, where they owned and operated the Cumberland Sanitarium.
She attended Providence College, Brown University, and Albuquerque University.
After 39 years, they moved in 1987 to Weiser, Idaho where they were members of the Weiser Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Spady was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include son, Frank Philbin and grandson, Justin Rolph, both of Cleburne; brother, Lester Gemmel of Overland, OH; sister, Ruth Griffin of Willard, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
