Rice Jackson Spears, Jr., “Jay”, 75, of Cleburne, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at his home. A viewing and visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Jay Spears was born the youngest of eight siblings in San Saba, Texas on November 21, 1945, to Elmer Lee (Laird) and Rice Jackson Spears.
A retired electrician, Jay was a staunch protector and supporter of his family regardless of any circumstance and challenges. He was from a simpler bygone era and was the kind of man one rarely encounters today. He will be missed tremendously.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert L. Spears; and sisters, Murtis Louise Spears, Jerry Lindsey, Margaret Broadbent, and Jane Pierce.
He is survived by his sons, Douglas R. Spears and wife, Emily, of Fort Worth, Texas and Darren W. Spears of Cleburne; wife, Linda Spears, of Cleburne; brother, Edward J. Spears and sister, Nell Spears Helbing, both of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Riley Spears, Makayla Spears, Dillon Spears, and Carley Spears.
