Obituary for
Dale Grant St. Clair
Cleburne, TX—Dale G. St. Clair, long time piano tuner and music store owner, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 in Keene, Texas. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Watts officiating.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Dale was born in Taylor County, Wisconsin on Nov. 30, 1925, the son of Zelma (Calkins) and Grant St. Clair.
Dale served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
He married Mary Louise Parker on January 23, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, soon after he returned from Germany at the end of the war. Dale and Mary made many major moves during their married life. They lived in many places including Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Arizona. For many years they owned a music store which included piano tuning and repair in Dewey, OK.
Dale enjoyed living in new places, trading cars, wood carving, making a variety of dulcimers, playing accordion, and harmonica.
Upon retiring they enjoyed full time RVing throughout 49 states for the next eight years.
When their traveling days ended they settled down in Keene, Texas where Dale and Mary were members of the Joshua Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mary preceded Dale in death in Feb. of 2014.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene and Claude St. Clair; and granddaughter, Mindy Owen Smith.
Dale St. Clair is survived by his sons, Pastor Terry St. Clair and wife, Cheryl, of Cleburne, TX; and Dan St. Clair and wife, Janna, of Loma Linda, CA; daughters, Karen Owen and husband, Elwyn, of Cleburne, TX and Nanette Clapp and husband, Lloyd, of Decatur, AR.; grandchildren, Teresa Couch of Keene, TX, Mark Owen of Walton, WV, Tim Owen of Cleburne, TX, Melissa St. Clair of Lewisville, TX, Rich St. Clair of Niger, Africa, Janelle Lawrence of Cleburne, TX, Jen McElwain of Redlands, CA, Sarah Henderson of Loma Linda, CA, Nick St. Clair of Loma Linda, CA, Julie Watts of Keene, TX, Wendi Clapp of Corrales, NM, Ben Clapp of Ewa Beach, HI; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Dale is also survived by his nieces, Ella St. Clair of Dallas, TX and Judy Ulrich of Ava, MO and nephews, Ken St. Clair of Texas City, TX and Roy St. Clair of Corpus Christi, TX.
