Stephen "Al" Albert Douglas passed from this earth at the end of August, 2023 peacefully in his home for the past fourteen years in Cleburne, Texas. Al was 69.
Al/Stephen was born in Petersburg Virginia on June 2, 1954, the son of John B Douglas Jr. and Frances Belton Douglas. The 3rd child, second son of four siblings. The family moved from Petersburg Virginia to Maryland in 1962 for his Dad's work in the Publishing Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. From there to Kansas City Missouri in Jan 1966; and then to Keene Texas in January 1968, making many friends along the way. Al finished out his elementary school years at the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church; then went on to Chisholm Trial Academy, Keene Texas; Jefferson boarding, Academy, Jefferson Texas; and Valley Grande Academy, Weslaco Texas. He made many, many friends along the way with his endearing fun and adventurous personality.
Al's Dad who passed in 1969 in an auto accident, built most of the homes they lived in when he was living, and passed those skills on to his sons. Thus Al worked in the construction business all of his life. Sometime in the 80's he moved back to the East to work and to be near his Dad's family - While there he became very close to his Aunt Mildred and her family who always included him as immediate family. He worked for a large commercial Construction Company as a Supervisor of projects and when 911 occurred he was on a construction site across the street from the Pentagon, at the time it was struck by one of the planes.
He has had many adventures, too numerous to tell, which many friends can attest to. In 2009 Al moved back to Texas to be close to his mother and other family and friends. Where he remained living until his passing.
Al was preceded in death by his father John B. Douglas Jr, Step-father Raymond Garner, his mother Frances Douglas Garner, Brother-In-Law Mike Harris and all Aunts and Uncles on both sides of his parents.
Al is survived by his siblings Donna Harris, Gary Douglas and his wife Marilyn and Paula Neighbors and her husband Randy. Nieces; Jodi Wilcox, Mandi Herzog, Kelly Ireland, Kandie Kowalski and Dustine Daigle. Nephews; Todd Harris, Jason Douglas, Shawn Burt and Andrew Burt. Including numerous extended family and friends.
We look forward to seeing him again one day soon when our Lord returns to take us to His Heavenly home.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
