Mary Swinea (Elderkin) died peacefully in Cleburne, TX on February 21st, 2021 at the age of 81.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Jessica Abrams, of Houston, TX and her 4 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Swinea and sister, Jean Gladish.
Mary was born on January 14th, 1940, in Butte, Montana and was the daughter of Elizabeth and George Elderkin. She served in the Navy. After the Navy she lived in Pennsylvania, California, and Indiana. In 1980, she moved to Midland, TX and started a career working for Midland Memorial Hospital, where she retired. After retirement she moved to the community of St Francis Village in Crowley, TX. In 2020 she moved to Santa Fe Trails Assisted Living in Cleburne, TX to help her with her struggles with dementia.
Mary loved helping and serving others. She found great joy and peace attending Mass, making blankets to donate, and serving on the bereavement committee at St Francis Village. She also loved to dance, paint, crochet, and take photographs.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, March 1st, 2021, at 2:00 pm at St Mary the Virgin Catholic Church, 1408 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX.
