Funeral services for Roy Jacob Tjaden, 93, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Sand Flat Baptist Church, with Pastor Gary Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Flat Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021at Rosser Funeral Home.
Roy departed this life on Saturday, May 8, 2021, following a period of declining health. He was born in Charles City, Iowa, on November 30, 1927, to Siefke and Elizabeth (Grassmann) Tjaden.
Roy married Marilyn “Mitzi” Miller on April 3, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa. To that union were born four children: Linda, Gary, Michael, and Mark.
Shortly after WW2 ended, he served in the Army of Occupation in Okinawa. For many years Roy worked at the Oliver Manufacturing Plant on the assembly line in Charles City, Iowa. Before and after retiring he enjoyed working on cars, gardening, taking walks around his property, watching old-time TV programs and chopping firewood. Roy attended Sand Flat Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mitzi; an infant sister; and his brothers, Dale, Donald, and Ronald.
Roy is survived by his children, Linda Tasker and husband, Alan, Gary Tjaden and wife, Joy, Mike Tjaden and wife, Kathy, and Mark Tjaden; grandchildren, Tim, (Karyn), Ted, and Sarah Tasker (Shawn Muder), Christy Tjaden (David Nye), Heather Tjaden (Erik Johnson), Jennifer Galusha (Rick Carter) Melissa Galusha (Matt Liou), Brent Tjaden, and Stephanie Tjaden (Keeyon Carter); great-grandchildren, Samantha Tasker, Lorelei and Asher Muder, Jenny and Lisa Copeland, Samantha Nye, Dylan and Addison Johnson, and Myles and Emmett Carter; and sister-in-law, Jan Tjaden.
