Obituary for Jewel Tucker (Harvey)

Funeral services for Jewel Tucker, 100, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 12:00 P.M. at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas.
Mrs. Tucker will lie in state from 1- 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Rosser Funeral Home.

Jewel Tucker was born in Louisiana on March 5, 1922 to Irene and Jim Harvey. Jim was a farmer and Irene was a housewife with eight children to care for.

Jewel met her husband, Willis Tucker on a blind date and it was love almost at first sight. They married and had two children, Linda Gail Tucker Swift and Willis Kent Tucker. Jewel and Willis eventually found their way to Ft. Worth, TX where Willis was an engineer at General Dynamics and later the head of the math department at Brewer High School.

In November 1979 tragedy struck and God called her husband, Willis home from a sudden heart attack. Jewel's faith in The Lord saw her through such a difficult time.

Later in life, Jewel met Gilbert Winnet. They married and had a few short years. Gilbert was taken by cancer.

During her life, Jewel was a member of First Baptist White Settlement for over 20 years, where she taught 5 year olds in Sunday School. She was active in the WMU and of course a housewife taking care of her two children and her home. After moving to Cleburne, she became a member of First Baptist of Cleburne for over 40 years. Jewel was very active, along with her daughter, Linda Swift, in women's activities at the church and in the community.

Jewel's love was working with children and she did so in her career when her family got older. She was a gifted seamstress and there wasn't anything she could not craft!
She made the best, hands down, four layered German Chocolate cake!

Anyone who knew Jewel Tucker knows she loved her family fiercely. Her two children, Linda Gail and Kent were her world along with two granddaughters, Julie Swift and Amy Tucker and her precious two great-granddaughters, Caitlin Kimbrell and Madison Kimbrell.

Jewel also loved her son-in-law, Ernest Swift who married her daughter Linda Gail on September 14 1968. He died December 12 2001. Ernest had two sons from a former marriage Greg Swift and Troy Swift.

She also loved her daughter-in-law, Donna Pruett Tucker. Jewel was a wonderful confidant and friend to Donna. She will be so missed.

She gave of herself, her resources, her heart and above all she lived before us all as a Godly woman!

She told her son, Kent in one of their conversations, "I will see you in heaven"!
Jewel’s name fits her....for heaven gained a "jewel" on March 18 when Jesus called her name!

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Willis E. Tucker; second husband, Gilbert J. Winnet; son-in-law, Ernest Swift; four brothers and three sisters.
