Funeral Service for Velma Valois McDonald, 93, of Godley, Texas will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 9, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Godley with the Rev. David Collett officiating. Burial will follow in Godley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M., Friday, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Joey Luce, David McCann, Ricky Mourning, Brian Mourning, Jason Thomas, Tracy Brown and Michael Richards.
Velma Valois McDonald was born September 20, 1929 in Hill County, Texas to Otis and Ruby (Wood) Stansberry. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Covington High School in 1945 at the age of 15. She married Roy W. McDonald in Itasca, Texas on July 27, 1946. Roy preceded her in death in 1998 after 52 years of marriage. Mrs. McDonald worked as a dump truck driver and church secretary. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron. She also worked for a plumbing company office and Owen Oil & Tool. She later opened Mac's Place in Godley in 1988 and became owner, manager, waitress and awesome pie maker. She enjoyed RVing, camping, reading, sewing, quilting, playing dominoes and traveling. In addition to her husband Roy, she was also preceded in death by daughters Beverly Beasley and Becky Slaughter.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela Mourning and husband, Richard, Vicki McCann and husband, Mike and Kim Wallace and husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Joey Luce and wife, Amy, David McCann and wife, Tiffany, Candace Howell, Ricky Mourning and wife, Becca, Christy Thomas and husband, Jason, Brian Mourning and wife, Debbie, Casey Brown and husband, Tracy and Courtney Richards and husband, Michael; great grandchildren, Collin McCann, Brett Luce, Carson Luce, Callie McCann, Dylan Mourning, Jude Mourning, Blake Mourning and Jack Brown; sister, Jo Pearl Hartman and husband Jimmy; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
