Frances Lanelle Walker
Frances Lanelle Walker, born Jan. 29, 1931, passed away in the early hours of June, 5, 2011, of congestive heart failure.
She was raised as Peggy Daniel with her older sister Eddie by her parents Earl and Lucille Daniel. Peggy graduated from North Dallas high School in 1948 and married Floyd Walker, a professional baseball player in 1949. They were lifelong Texans.
Peggy was a homemaker for her husband and three children: Sue, Tom, and Tim. She was always supportive of her family which included being PTA president in Lubbock, little league coach and concession stand supervisor in Stanton and Brownfield, or press box spotter for announcer Floyd at Stanton football games. She also hosted wonderful parties as she was a gourmet cook.
Peggy made every holiday, especially Christmas, memorable for her family. She also enjoyed traveling around the world with her daughter and watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Her favorite pastime was working crossword puzzles, and she never lost a game of Scrabble.
Following her husband’s death in 1998, she moved to Cleburne. Survivors include daughter, Sue Lynn and son-in-law Larry Nelson of Cleburne; daughter-in-law, Dianna Walker of Forsan; grandson, Cory Walker and wife Jackie; great-grandson, Brayson of Big Spring; granddaughter, Holly and husband Logan Knapp of San Angelo; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Avery.
A private memorial service will be held at the gravesite in Brownfield.
Peggy’s life can be described in I Thessalonians 4:11-12. “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders, and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”
