Obituary for Herschel B. "Preach" Walker

H. B. “Preach” Walker passed away recently at his home in Cleburne at the age of 94. Herschel was born to Belle (Alexander) and William P. Walker on December 18, 1916, near Hill Creek between Eulogy and Glen Rose.
Greatly impacted by The Great Depression, Herschel helped support his family any way he could. As a teenager, he worked on various CCC projects across the southwest United States. During prohibition, Herschel became very skilled in the construction and operation of private distilleries, for which there was quite a demand. Later, Herschel gained more conventional employment, eventually retiring after a long career with Rangaire Corp. in Cleburne.
During his long life, Herschel was blessed with three wonderful wives, Dollie Shivers, Dollie Lancaster, and Ruby Honea, all of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded by siblings, Lovell, Norma, Avanell, Bill and Wanda; son, Herschel Jr.; daughter, Herscheline; grandson, Michael; and great granddaughters, Cheyenne Williams and Madison Walker.
Mr. Walker is survived by daughters, Waynnett and Lela; sons, Milton and C.W.; grandchildren, Debbie Williams, Bobby Williams, Dollie Connerway, Clint Walker, Chad Walker, Jennifer Barone, Holly Jarrod, Talor Prater, Lynn Williams, Charwin Adair, Mitchell Sturdivant and Jamie Walker. Survivors also include several great grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren.
