Graveside services for John D. Ward, Jr., 90, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted today, December 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park with Dr. Robert H. Herzig officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Ward passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Cleburne. He was born in San Angelo, Texas on September 26, 1922, the son of Lela (Davis) and John D. Ward. He graduated from Cisco High School. Mr. Ward served in the Army Air Force during WWII. John ranched in West Texas and was a long time employee of Rangaire Corporation. He also worked at Style-Rite Manufacturing and was co-owner of the Bumper Place.
John was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Mary Anne Simon on Feb. 26, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Mary Anne Ward.
John is survived by his daughters, Lynda Lee Wallace and husband, George of Benbrook, and Anne Short and husband, Wayne of The Woodland; grandsons, John Wallace, and Gary Short (Allison); granddaughters, Leslee Watkins (Brian), and Melissa Short; and great grandchildren, Alyssa Watkins, Jason Watkins, and Emma Short.
