LaRue Welty
Early, TX—Funeral services for LaRue Welty, 92, of Early, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Bennie Leonard will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Welty, Chad Welty, Jeff Welty, Cody Welty, Blake Welty, Michael Bertrand, and Thein Nguyen.
Mrs. Welty passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Early, Texas. She was born in Mingus, Texas on January 15, 1920, the daughter of Minnie Mabel (Smith) and Elliotte David Rollings “Rollie” Kenney.
She married Wilber Owen Welty on February 12, 1939 in Eastland, Texas. They lived in Palo Pinto County while he worked building the dam at Possum Kingdom Lake. There, they had their first two sons, Rollie Earl and James Owen. They later moved to Fort Worth, Texas and were blessed with two more boys, Jerry Wayne and Gilbert Dale.
LaRue worked in the home taking care of her family and loving life. She also worked in the local hospital and nursing home as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed her boys and played games with them until well into her late years. She loved card games, dominoes, 42, pitching horseshoes and washers and went to any and all sports played by her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved going to Wal-Mart.
Nothing made her happier than to have a house full of people for the weekend or holiday; to cook and play games and tell stories about the old days!! The more the merrier was her motto. There was always room for more folks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur Welty; son, Jerry Wayne Welty; granddaughter, Abby Grace Welty; six brothers, Rollie Elton Kenny, George Kenney, John Kenney, Robert Kenney, Charles Kenney, Jack Kenney; sisters, Vera Bell Booth and June Sunshine Hanks; and brother-in-law, Maydell Welty.
LaRue Welty is survived by her sons, James Welty and wife, Donna, of Whitney, Texas, Rollie Welty and wife, Carrie, of May, Texas, and Gilbert Welty and wife, Darlene, of Rochelle, Texas; 13 grandchildren, David and Gwen Welty, Shelly and Jacky Mears, Jeff Welty, Chad and Laura Welty, Gina Welty, Tammy and Greg Bogard, Michael and Angie Bertrand, Blake Welty, Cody Welty, July and Thien Nguyen, Janice and Terry Petree, Dale and Collette Welty and Dawn and Greg Womble; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
