Robert passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 in Cleburne, Texas. Robert was born May 19, 1926 to Lon G. Whitehead and Maggie Elizabeth (Easdon) Whitehead. He married Ora Dell Davis on Jan. 24, 1948. His beloved wife preceded him in death Aug. 29, 2017 after 69 years of marriage. Also preceding Robert in death were his parents; son, Glen Whitehead; and sisters, Jessie Skinner and Tommie Coffey.
Robert served in the United States Army in WWII. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad and then his calling as a pastor led him and Ora Dell to faithfully serve their Lord with love, compassion and benevolence. Above all, they were tremendous prayer warriors.
Robert enjoyed gardening, fishing, and especially enjoyed Ora Dell’s wonderful meals. He and Ora Dell enjoyed traveling and most of all enjoyed their grandchildren.
After his retirement from the pastorate he became a member of College Heights Baptist Church where he had been ordained many years ago.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Whitehead and wife, Wendi, of Burleson; daughter, Becky Schisler and husband, Larry, of Cleburne; brothers, Earl Whitehead and wife, Katherine, Lonnie Whitehead and wife, Inetta, all of Cleburne; sisters, Pauline Armstrong of Wichita Falls, Earline Cudd and husband, Kenneth, of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgeview Nursing Center for their care. Also, Mission Hospice for their compassionate care through the loss of both of our precious parents within such a short time. A special thanks to God for the little Savior He sent for us, and is now preparing a place for those who love Him.
We shall see you again Mother, Daddy, Gran, and Papa.
Memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church at 1007 Phillips St., Cleburne, Texas 76033.
