William "Bill" Barnes

William Burnett "Bill" Barnes Jr., aged 76, passed away on September 3, 2024, in Burleson, Texas. Born on September 1, 1948, in Meridian, Texas, Bill grew up to be a devoted patriot and a cherished member of his community.

Bill served with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, reflecting his deep love for his country. After his military service, he dedicated many years as an aerospace assembler at Vought, where his meticulousness and strong work ethic were highly valued.

Bill was a graduate of Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas, which furthered his skills and knowledge, contributing significantly to his professional life.

Known for his caring and attentive nature, Bill was a wonderful father, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always present for family milestones and celebrations, never missing a chance to show his love and support. His family was his pride and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret E. Barnes; sons, William R. Barnes (Mely) and Christopher Barnes (Rita); daughter, Rachel Schur (Brad); grandchildren, Garrett Byers, Chet Barnes, Haley Byers, Julia Hudgins, Madeline Barnes, Fran Esquivel, Yessi Esquivel, Mallory Schur, Lili Esquivel, Jude Barnes, and Joely Barnes; and great-grandchildren, Lainey Harlow, William Chet Barnes. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William B. Barnes Sr., and son, Jeffrey A. Barnes.

Viewing will be held at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. A graveside funeral service is scheduled at Brazos Point Cemetery on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. Rosser Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time. Bill's life and service will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
