George “Bud” Williams
Alvarado—Funeral services for George “Bud” Williams, 78, of Alvarado, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne, Texas. Pastor Paul Proctor will officiate.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Point Cemetery in Lillian, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Rosser Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at his home. He was born in Weiner, Arkansas on July 9, 1933, the son of Rosa (Williams) and Noah Williams.
“Bud” as he was known to family and friends, served his country in the United States Navy as a naval engineer and was retired as an electrician with Brown and Root.
He married Floren Myers on September 28, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bud was a member of the Hillsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a member of The Masters Travelers Gospel Group that performed in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Arizona.
Bud started playing the guitar at church and camp meetings at the age of 12. His family enjoyed gospel music and would often gather around for quartet style singing. This is where Bud got his love of gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy Williams; two sisters and one brother.
Bud Williams is survived by his wife, Foren Williams of Alvarado; son, Gary Rapier and wife, Denise, of Tennessee; daughters, Debra Tucker and husband, Arthur, of Alvarado, Donna Eagan and husband, Pat, of Colorado, and Deana Rook of Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren.
