Cloyce Woodruff (Chafin)
Memorial services for Cloyce C. Woodruff, 85, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. Private family burial will be conducted at Rosehill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Mrs. Woodruff passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Cleburne on August 12, 1927, the daughter of Gurtha (Graham) and Ralph Chafin.
Cloyce was retired, having been a librarian aide with the Cleburne ISD and was a long time member of the Wesley Sunday School class of First United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the community including volunteering for Meals On Wheels. She was also member of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons and the Johnson-Somervell County Retired Teachers Association.
Cloyce was the queen of crossword puzzles and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and reading; but her love was her bridge club, often playing up to three times a month.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John T. Woodruff; and brother, Carl Chafin.
Mrs. Woodruff is survived by her sons, Patrick Woodruff of Houston, Texas and Dean Woodruff and wife, Glenda, of Cleburne; daughters, Becky Davis and husband, Monty, of Houston and Lisa Richards of Cleburne; sister, Joyce Swatzell and husband, Dr. Monte Swatzell, of Cleburne; sisters-in law, Janie Chafin and Lou Woodruff; grandchildren, Kelsey Nolen, Cristina Davis, Callie Albin, Anna Woodruff, Thomas Richards and Ryan Richards; and three great grandchildren.
